I’ve tried to lose weight in the past by counting calories and while it works, it is exhausting to have to record each and every calorie. Knowing that the eating plan was focused on portion control is what sealed the deal for me. As you all know, I eat healthfully on a regular basis — with a few treats here and there. Life (and healthy living) is all about balance for me and it’s what I try to focus on with my health coaching clients as well. That said, I do really love food and struggle with portion control with certain foods. I’m human.

I didn’t see the crazy results that I’ve seen in some of the the 21 Day Fix before/afters online but I think that’s because the plan is similar to how I already workout/eat and I don’t have much weight to lose. This wasn’t about seeing a lower number on the scale for me. It was more about challenging myself, building strength, and firming up my stomach (which is my problem area).

The 21 Day Fix does not offer a miracle cure. It explains clearly that only those who are dedicated and willing to make a change will be able to do so. However, it does this by slowly but surely helping us break away from our bad habits, which takes 21 days to achieve.

If you’re an advanced exerciser, you can jump high and increase the weights you use for a challenge every time. Autumn actually came out with 21 Day Fix Extreme a year later, and still the original is my favorite even as an advanced exerciser. There are basically 2 elements to 21 Day Fix: The nutrition plan (including the containers) and the workout plan itself.

Is Shakeology required on the 21 Day Fix? Nope, you can use it as a Red (protein) container if you want to use it. I personally do use it each day, and I’m obsessed with the new cafe flavor. I would suggest the variety flavor pack though if you decide to go with the 21 Day Fix Challenge Pack. Shakeology is a good choice – for me anyways – for my IBS-C symptoms. It really does help. Before we get to the 2 elements, if you haven’t seen the commercial yet, I’d recommend checking it out below just to give you a brief overview of everything (it’s only about 4 minutes long). After that, proceed to reading my in-depth review of the entire program so you can learn all of the details and see how it worked for me.

Did you mention wine? What about my sweet tooth? You can swap 2 yellow (starch) containers for a treat up to 3x a week. There is a list of treats you can eat, but wine and chocolate are on the list. I love the 21 Day Fix because it’s so easy to follow! The containers make meal planning and portion control so simple and the 30 minute work outs can be done at home with minimal equipment. I love that I can easily find time to schedule these work outs into my day and that even 30 minutes a day produces great results!

The 21 Day Fix by autumn calabrese does just that. These workouts are no joke…but that is how we get results, right!?

I was always sweaty afterwards and found myself sore the next day as well. That’s one big difference between the 21 Day Fix and T25. I was consistently sore with the Fix workouts and never sore with T25. I know being sore isn’t the ultimate goal of a workout but it felt good knowing that I was challenging myself and gaining strength.

You figure out your calorie level, which is based on your weight. There are four different calorie levels and each involves a different number of containers. I was in the 1,200-1,499 calorie range and was supposed to eat 3 servings of veggies, 2 servings of fruit, 4 servings of protein, 2 servings of carbs, 1 serving of healthy fats, 1 serving of seeds/dressing and 2 teaspoons of oil/nut butter per day.

Because of the popularity of the 21 day fix program, there are a number of affordable options for getting the containers with the exact sizes in ounces of the official program. There are many options available on Amazon according to your price range. Here are a list of our favorites. While these are the measurements on average if you do not have the containers, they are not the exact sizes of the containers.

Many 21 Day Fix reviews have stated that they often cannot eat all they’re suppose to because of feeling too full. If this happens to you, make sure to try to eat a little from all the containers and try to rotate around the ones you skip from day to day.

Each of the containers vary slightly in the program which is why it is recommended to purchase the official containers so you will have the greatest results when following the program. When following this program, it’s important that you follow the eating plan according to your body type and your weight loss goals. You need to calculate how many calories you should eat each day in order to lose 2 pounds of fat a week and then choose the eating plan that will help you meet those goals.

When you get the food on your plate you will see how much it really is and you will find yourself satisfied. So what you get is 1 of each color of the containers: blue, red, green, purple, yellow and two of the orange containers. Each container is used for a different purpose.

Make a loose schedule of your containers for the day and how you will use them. I came up with a rough plan to spread the containers out throughout the entire day so that I got them all in and was not left with nothing to eat at the end of the day. I also placed my yellow container at the beginning of the day. My problem is that the booklet assumes you are burning 400 calories per 21 day fix workout. In my experience, this is NOT accurate. I own a FitBit and am tracking calories burned per workout.

I purchased the 21-Day Fix and Shakeology on my own and was not compensated for this review. All opinions are my own. The 21 Day Fix package (Amazon, $72) comes with cups for measuring out portions. My only complaint about the program is the name, 21 Day Fix designed by Autumn Calabrese. Once you have done that, you will know what you can eat. An example of this is if you are allowed say 1800 calories a day, you can have 4 green containers, 3 purple, 3 yellow, 4 red, 1 blue and 1 orange per day. As you have read by now, you can only use so many of the Beachbody 21 Day Fix containers per day. However, how do you use the portion control containers right now? In the 21 Day Fix food plan, you’ll find two main options given to you.

Coming from a fitness background I can go ahead and analyze many details in this 21 Day Fix review as for why this program makes sense. Trying to stick close to layman terms, here are just few in order to put things into perspective. The workouts last for around 30 minutes. Not going to cite sources on why this is so important, let us just say that it is quite convenient.

The highest amount of calories I have burned is around 330 calories during the 28-30 minute workout. And I push myself HARD. And on the days where you are doing Yoga Fix or Pilates Fix, you will be lucky to burn 150 calories. Therefore, unless you are doing other forms of exercise throughout the day like walking or running, I would recommend subtracting another 150-200 calories from the total.

This incredible program provides rapid results without anxiety and frustration! The platform is created with the individual in mind, giving victory and healthy changes. The Fix is designed to give the individual tools to obtain their weight loss goals. The program does not require users to count calories, or fat grams. It does not use a point system which has to be figured each day of the week. Portion control is key to the individual’s success to lose weight and feel great! And, anyone can be successful!
